Uniting Countries Through Soccer
Hello everyone,
This year, an opportunity presented itself to spread kindness across the Atlantic. The Board of OMHSA have unanimously decided to take action. We’ve donated a collection of team sets of clean and gently used jerseys to a village in Zimbabwe through: The Silokwethemba Project www.wehavehope.ca This is a group of wonderful people who travel to Zimbabwe to provide: healthcare, education and a love of soccer! Through the last 20 years they have sent hundreds of children to attend school; that without the help of the amazing people would NOT have had that opportunity for an education. Take a couple few minutes to check out the link…it’s heartwarming! The kids in Zimbabwe are learning English, so we are sending post cards to go along with the jerseys. Reading the stories from our kids is great practice!! Because of the remoteness, the letters are a one-way letter, so don't include a return address; the Villagers don’t have access to a mail delivery system. If you have a child that is interested in sending a letter of kindness, please reach out to me. I have a special paper for the post cards. I will be collecting the post cards on April 2nd at the soccer fields from 5:30-6:30. If there is interest from families or groups that would like to do a little more, I’ll be accepting cash donations for the following… $10 - pair of shoes $35 - sports and play package $50 - educational package. Tax receipts will be given through the Salvation Army to any monetary donations of $20 or more. You can find more information on the website www.wehavehope.ca

P.S. - We have other sets of jerseys to donate, so if you know of, or are a part of, an organization that would like some to donate, please reach out to me. The OMHSA Board would be glad to help!
